Welcome to T.L. Waggoner Elementary School and the start of another exciting school year. I am thrilled and eagerly looking forward to meeting and getting to know everyone as I start my 8th year. Education is a partnership that includes you, your child, and our staff. We will provide outstanding teachers, a caring and supportive staff, and a safe and fun learning environment for your child. As our partners, we need you to instill in your child the value of education. Some of the best ways to do this are making sure your child arrives each day on time and ready to learn, helping them with homework, and talking with them about ideas and topics that they're studying in school. I also strongly encourage you to read to and with your child, regardless of their age, as this is one of the best ways to foster their love of reading while building their skills. Twenty minutes of reading to and with your child each day equals one hundred and twenty two hours of reading skills practice in one year!
T. L. Waggoner is your school. I want you to feel that you are a welcome and integral part of this social learning community. Everyone including: teachers, parents, secretaries, administrators, instructional assistants, the custodians, cafeteria assistants, district support staff, and of course the students, are continually learning, growing, and working together to enrich the learning environment and develop social skills. We know that learning together and from one another is one of the most powerful ways to learn, and it also builds relationships and community.
Get involved! Time invested with your child at home and at school pays off in huge dividends. The more you participate, the more you and your child will benefit from school. I strongly encourage you to join the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and to volunteer as a classroom tutor, library or computer lab aide, and chaperone on field trips. Please contact your classroom teacher or call the school for more information on ways that you can get involved.
We have some changes and additions to our staff for 2018-19. Changing grade levels are Mrs. Eva Atiles, 3rd Grade Mrs. Myra Hernandez, 5th Grade. New teachers to Waggoner this year are Mrs. Roxanne Scnheewind, RSP 5th Grade
I look forward to the educational opportunities and the excited faces, with both students and parents, as we begin a new year learning and growing together.
